Okean necessary software upgrade
We need to secure the server from being compromized by vulnerable scripts and applications.
The server is running an old version of PHP 4.4.9 and we will have to upgrade the following applictions on the server to the latest stable releases :
Php 4.4.9 -> php 5.3
Apache 1.1.3 -> Apache 2.2
Mod_security rules on the server
Suphp on the server
Upgrading Php and Apache wont be a problem for any of the websites as the upgrade will take care of the existing configuration on the server.
However, enabling suphp on the server will generate "Internal Server Errors" for those websites which use php_flag or php_value parameters in their .htaccess files.
The solution to those errors is simple, by removing the lines containing php_flag and php_value from .htaccess files. If you are not sure, you may contact us and we will get it fixed.
Since the security breaches have been more frequent recently, we need to take this step to preserve the security on the server. We hope you understand our concern and cooperate with us to get the applications upgraded.
Since the server is not secure at the moment, we need to do the security audit asap.
